In all word lists, you can sort the Phonetic column in different ways.
In Search result word lists, you can also specify whether the search item, preceding environment, or following environment is sorted first, second, or third.
Do one of the following:
Right-click the Phonetic column heading of the word list.
Click Phonetic
Sort Options at the far right
of the Data

Charts toolbar.
A drop-down box appears.
Click one of the following:

Within each column, the order is from the upper row to the lower row.
Manner or Height: Sort based on rows of the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) charts. For vowels, sort by tongue position from close to open.
Within each row, the order is from the left column to the right column.

At the right of Preceding, click under one of the following: 1st, 2nd, or 3rd (that is, the preceding environment is sorted first, second, or third).
At the right of Item, click under one of the following: 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.
At the right of Following, click under one of the following: 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.

Move the mouse pointer outside the box for a few seconds.
