Building a distribution chart is like simultaneously building several search patterns in Search view. However in a distribution chart , the search items are separated from the search environments. A distribution chart displays search items in the leftmost column and search environments in the top row.
Select the first empty search item cell (in the first column) by clicking in the cell. The entire row is highlighted.
Enter a search item element in the following ways:
Type using the keyboard.
Selecting an item from
the menu displayed when clicking Insert
Element into Current Chart Cell
on the Distribution Charts
toolbar.
Insert an item from the chart building items by clicking it when a search item cell is active or dragging it to a search item cell.
Select the first empty search environment cell (in the first row) by clicking in the cell. When you select a search environment cell, the entire column is highlighted.
Enter a search environment element as listed in step 2.
Repeat steps 1 through 4 for each search item and search environment pair.
To specify search options
for the search patterns of which the search environment is a part,
click Search
Options for Current Chart Column .
To save the chart, click
Save Current Chart .
The width of a chart column can be changed by moving the mouse pointer over the right edge of the column. When the pointer becomes a left and right pointing arrows, hold down the left mouse button and move the mouse left or right. Release the mouse button when the column has the desired width. When a chart is saved, its column widths are also saved.
In a distribution chart, the bottom row and rightmost column are always empty to allow room for adding more patterns.
An asterisk is displayed at the upper left of a distribution chart if it has been modified since it was last saved.
