In Phonology Assistant, the phonetic characters consist primarily of the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) in the Unicode character encoding.
You might type IPA characters:
In a search pattern in the Current Search Pattern box in Search view.
In a search item or environment when you build a chart in Distribution Charts view.
In the Phones Class dialog box.
In the phonetic transcription in a source record.
To type IPA characters, you might need to install a different keyboard layout.
