To undock (hide) the panel, click the Automatically Hide button 
at the upper right.

To show the panel temporarily, move the mouse pointer over the Patterns & Pattern Building tab, displayed vertically on the left edge of the view.
As long as the mouse pointer is over the panel or tab, the panel remains visible.

To hide the panel again, move the mouse pointer away from the panel or tab.
The panel will automatically become hidden within a few seconds.
To dock (show) the panel, click the Dock button at the upper right.
In the docked state, the panel is visible whenever Search view is visible.
