The Transcription Changes dialog box opens. Do any of the following:
To add a source transcription with accompanying experimental transcriptions, do the following in the last row:
Click twice in the cell in the Transcribed in source as column, and then type the source transcription you want to convert.
Click twice in the furthest right cell, and then type the experimental transcription to which the source transcription is converted.
You may add additional experimental transcriptions for the same source transcription by repeating this step. The you can choose one at a time.
To choose the experimental transcription to which Phonology Assistant (PA) will convert a source transcription, do one of the following in the desired row:
Click the option
button () next to the desired experimental transcription.
The option you choose will appear in the Experimental transcription ScreenTip.
Click None
()
if you do not want to convert the source transcription in a row.
To remove a source transcription and the associated experimental transcriptions, click the left cell in the desired row, and then press Delete.
If there is more than one source transcription, PA converts the longest source transcription first, and so on. When two source transcriptions are the same length, the one occurring first in the list is converted first.
When converting source transcriptions, PA does not make any changes to the data in the data source file or database.
PA applies experimental transcription conversions before disambiguating Ambiguous Sequences.
PA does not support conversions of conversions. For example, to convert ph to p, write one experimental transcription, not the following two.
Transcribed in source as |
Convert to |
---|---|
ph |
pʰ |
pʰ |
p |
