Insert Element into Current Search Pattern

To insert an element, you can click in the Current Search Pattern, click on the Search toolbar, and then click one of the following commands:

Phones or Diacritics

An asterisk represents zero or more phones, except when it occurs immediately before a closed square bracket that surrounds a diacritic placeholder [◌*].

+ One or More
Phones or Diacritics

A plus sign represents one or more phones, except when it occurs immediately before a closed square bracket that surrounds a diacritic placeholder [◌+].

# Space/Word Boundary

A number sign represents a space or word boundary. (Parsed data sources contain no spaces.)

Diacritic Placeholder

A diacritic placeholder is a dotted circle to which diacritics can be attached if the search pattern does not match a specific base character.
It is surrounded by square brackets [◌].

[ ] AND Group

An AND group is a list of pattern members, all of which must describe a phone in order for the phone to qualify as a match.

{ } OR Group

An OR group is a list of pattern members, only one of which must describe a phone in order for the phone to qualify as a match.
